Fall Mountain Biking with Overland Mountain Bike Club

September 7, 2010 by bikekor

Labor Day blew right through us. If you had a chance to ride, I hope you had a tailwind!

A huge thanks to New Belgium Brewery, the hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of participants at this year's hugely successful Tour de Fat! I enjoyed myself immensely. I hope you did too. The Tour de Fat allows Overland Mountain Bike Club to continue to offer programs like the upcoming Friends of Lory Trail Day and Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. It also allows us to help other bike programs in the region. In fact, if  you've got a 'bike idea' why not apply for a grant? The link to the Overland Mountain Bike Club grant program is at the top of the page.

So what's going on for the next couple of weeks? Lots of stuff! Fun rides, trail work, kids rides, etc.  We have a lot in store. There is still plenty of time to ride  before winter.

Wednesday, September 8th, Social Ride at Soderberg at 5:30. Yes 5:30 as the sun's goin' down a bit earlier.  If you haven't made a social ride this season, this one will be great. Social Hour afterwards at Doug and Mary's. You can find their info by logging in.

Wednesday, Sept 8th, Beginner Ride at Maxwell/Pineridge at 5:30. Don't want the challenges of riding Horsetooth Mountain Park? Come out for a easy, relaxed beginner ride. Work on some skills. Ask questions. Socialize afterwards at Doug and Mary's.

Saturday, September 11th - Adopt-a-Trail Day on Shoreline
Overland has adopted the Shoreline Trail just off of the Rotary Park parking lot. We need about 10 folks who can dig in on Saturday from 9-2 and help us make this trail day awesome. Lunch/tools will be provided. Please sign up so that we know how much food to buy. The sign up is up at the top of the page.

Feel like driving a bit further? Go to Glendo State Park in Wyoming. They have a trail day too! Contact Paul Gritten for more info.

Saturday, September 18th - Friends of Lory Trail Day
An Overland Mountain Bike Club/Diamond Peaks Mountain Bike Patrol signature event. For over 15 years we've given the trails at Lory State Park some love. Join us for a great day of trail maintenance and b-b-q! The more the merrier on this great day. Bring your friends and family. Bring your bike and ride afterwards. Please sign up so that we know who's coming. Sign up is located at the top of the page.

Curt Gowdy hosts a trail day on the 18th too!
This IMBA awarded trail system is fantastic. Contact Paul Gritten for more info.

Saturday, September 25th - National Public Lands Day in Red Feather
We'll be helping the USFS celebrate National Public Lands Day. Come join the fun! We'll also need a few friendly folks to help us staff the tent for the day.

Saturday, October 2nd - Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day!
A free event for kids of all ages and their parents. Bring your bikes to Lory State Park and ride! Rides are designed for kids of all ages and abilities. We'll also do some fun educational stuff and eat a great lunch. Prizes will be handed out. Kids will have a great time. Hope to see you there. Sign-ups will be available soon.

That's about all. Hope to see you at one of these great events and out on the trail.
