Looking Ahead: Bush Acres, Elections, Stone Temple 8, Take a Kid, and a Trail Fiesta
September 16, 2012 by bikekor
I'm not sure we could have ordered better conditions for Saturday's 2nd annual 40 in the Fort. And I'm not sure we could have found a better communications partner for the race. The boys over at No. Colo. Amateur Radio Club sure helped ease some stress with their ability to communicate all over the hillside. Great working with them. And of course, we couldn't have done it without our sponsors, especially Poudre Valley Hospital - our event sponsor - and our volunteers. Thanks to everyone for making it a great day. And if you managed to consume a donut and bacon sandwich, let us know your opinion on our Facebook page. (Oh, and any racers who'd like to throw some suggestions for our theme next year, shoot us an email.)
Singletrack Social Switch-RESCHEDULED THIS WEEK
We've got a ton of extra food from the 40 so don't bring food. Just something to quench your thirst. This Wednesday, Sep 19 at 5:30 (yes, we're starting a little earlier cuz we're losing daylight), our social ride will take place at Bush Acres. That's right. Overland member and all-around good guy Ronny Bush has offered up his five acres of singletrack, his porch and his grill. It'll be a very laid back affair and folks can go out and ride as they see fit. We may throw in some games, etc.
This will be a kid friendly event so bring 'em with their bikes. The trails are very fun for kids. (Directions: Head west on CR38E, aka Harmony. Just as it makes the first big sweeping turn south, you'll see a sign for a neighborhood called Westridge and a street with the same name. Make a left. Ronny's house is on the left a couple of driveways in.) P.S. Check the Facebook page cuz at some point Ronny might post his exact address. Oh, and it would be nice if you brought the missus some flowers.)
This Saturday, Sep. 22, You're invited to a Trail Party (also known as a trail day) sponsored by Peloton Cycles. Read more. Thanks for signing up and helping us out. As of today we had 12 folks signed up. We could use at least 8 more.

TWO FUN EVENTS JUST AROUND THE CORNER
We need participants and volunteers.
Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day - Oct. 6.
Elections and our Monthly Meeting
Our big agenda item for September's monthly meeting is board elections. If you are interested in running, planning on running, or simply interested in making an educated decision on who to elect, this is the meeting to be at. Where? The Rio at 6:30 p.m. in the Agave Room. If you plan to run for a seat on the board, please have something prepared to discuss and be prepared to answer questions from the crowd.
Patrollin' this September: Another contest
I'm looking for that sweet 63 again. Let's match last month's great showing. The top 5 patrollers out of that 63 will once again receive somethin'. Pete likes the idea of gas cards. We'll see. Remember, we've got 2 months left until patrol season ends at which point we'll see who has the most patrol points and they'll win the annual award.
